Your Domain Name is Your Company, Just Ask Your Website

There is a point when it comes time to name your business.   It usually, but not always come when you are inspired to take your idea to others.  It may be that you need to print business cards or you have to register your business.  Whenever this eventual process comes it can be both exciting and stressful.  If you plan on creating a website for your business this is also the time you should secure the domain name for your company.  If your like a lot of people this is when you turn to a Web savying friend or family member and hand them your credit card and ask for help.

While it is great to have someone to trust for this big step.  There are a few things to consider.

Domain Owner

Always make sure you own your domain name.  This is often overlooked and can cause issues down the line for renewal and SEO related activities such as Google analytics registration etc.

Domain contact information

Always make sure you are listed as the contact person for any changes and email updates regarding your domain.  This will ensure you are not left in a situation where the domain is not available due to expiry.  Your Resist rare may also need to contact you for legislative obligations that could become an issue if ignored.
